Hi, We're Hagane Kuro.
One blade, forged to outlast everything
Our mission
One blade, forged to outlast everything
Most chefs own twelve knives and reach for one. Hagane Kuro exists to make that one worthy — a single Damascus blade built from physical fact, Japanese craft tradition, and the quiet discipline of a tool designed to be used every day for the rest of your life.

Built from obsession, not compromise
Hagane Kuro began with a single frustration: knives marketed as premium that couldn't hold an edge through a full service. The answer wasn't a better marketing story — it was a better blade. Sixty-seven layers of VG-10 Damascus steel, vacuum heat-treated to 62 HRC, shaped into the Kiritsuke profile that Japanese professional kitchens have trusted for generations. Nothing added. Nothing softened.

The founder spent years working professional kitchens and a decade sourcing knives across Japan before concluding that the premium-accessible market had confused decoration with craft. Hagane Kuro was built to correct that — no etched patterns, no hollow marketing, just a structurally-layered Damascus blade hardened to professional-kitchen specification and finished with an octagonal rosewood handle machined to the geometry Japanese joinery demands.

Craft over claim
Brand value. Every specification on this page is a physical fact — layer count, hardness rating, steel type, handle geometry. Nothing else.

One tool, complete
Brand value. The Kiritsuke profile replaces a chef knife, slicer, and utility knife. Refinement means less, done better.

Built to be used
Brand value. A 62 HRC full-tang blade doesn't belong behind glass. It deepens in character with every year of daily use.
